Mission

The Tibetan Alliance of Chicago (TAC) was originally founded as the Tibetan Resettlement Project Chicago in 1992. It was formed to work for the welfare of the Tibetans residing in the city of Chicago and/or the state of Illinois. Even though we have come to America and have become U.S. citizens, our Tibetan hearts and souls are still deeply connected to our pastoral and spiritual leader His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, to our Tibet and our exile communities in India and Nepal, while looking towards our futures as U.S. citizens.

Our Mission Statement:
In keeping with the ultimate goal of all Tibetans to realize an independent Tibet, and in accordance with the visions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Alliance of Chicago shall organize, and participate in events or actions to create awareness of the plight of the Tibetan people.

The Tibetan Alliance shall not take part in the partisan politics of religion. Further, the TAC shall not take part in any activity that may cause discord, and/or distrust within the Alliance. The Alliance shall dedicate itself to create a harmonious co-existence of all its members.

The Tibetan Alliance shall endeavor to preserve the unique culture and religion of Tibet. Toward this end, the members of the Alliance shall practice, learn and teach Tibetan culture and religion to its members.
