We are happy to circulate this registration call for the 2012 summer camp at the
Tibetan Children’s (TCV) in Dharamsala, India. The camp will start on July 3rd
and will end on August 7th 2012. During these five weeks, the participants will
stay at the TCV, where they will attend regular classes in Tibetan language,
culture and traditions, and Buddhism and Values. In order to make learning more
effective, the participants will be divided into groups and the classes will be
conducted by the TCV faculty and guest speakers.

In addition, the camp participants will have an opportunity to explore the life
at several TCV schools in and around Dharamsala as well as the functioning of
the Central Tibetan Administration. So far, the camp participants had an
opportunity to seek a special audience separately with His Holiness the Dalai
Lama and Gyalwang Karmapa, and to have close interaction with the Kalon Tripa.

After the five-week stay at TCV, the camp participants will undertake an
excursion to Rewalsar (Tso Pema), the legendary land associated with Guru
Padmasambhava. However, the participation in the excursion is optional. An
excursion to Tso Pema will commence immediately after participants’ five-week
stay at the TCV.

The camp is restricted to the Tibetan school going students aged 10 to 19. The
total program cost is US$350 per student. This amount covers board and lodging,
stationary, teaching materials, site visits, excursion, and travel from Delhi to
Dharamsala and back. Please note that the program cost doesn’t include
air-ticket to India and back, which needs to be borne separately by the parents.

Last year, a total of 45 elementary and high school Tibetan students from the
United States, United Kingdom, Netherland, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Italy,
and Austria attended the TCV summer camp.

The registration for the 2012 Summer Camp will close on May 15th, 2012. The
interested candidates from North America should submit the registration form
along with the check for US$350 to the following address. Please note that the
check should be drawn in favor of the Office of Tibet with a note “TCV Summer
Camp”.
